AGUES BELONGING TO THE CHURCH IN IRELAND. '/ iff. N° 9. Dioceses of FERNS AND LEIGHLIN— continued. Diocese of LEIGHLIN— continued. See Laads : Moneymore, Old Leighlin, and Banaspike: A RETURN of the following See lands in the diocese of Leighlin and county of Carlow, of which I have been able to get no Return from the tenants, & c. Part of Moneymore 48 A. QR. SOP. held by John Barry of the Treasury. Part of Old Leighlin, 155 A. 3R. i6p. John Stratton, the former tenant ejected a mountain farm. Banaspike, 16A. OR. 5P. William Byrne; good land. A true copy, which I attest, P. Preston, Registrar diocese Leighlin, and Agent. See Lands: Glanure, Garry Christian, Old Leighlin, Woodstock, and Gurteens : A STATEMENT of the number of Acres contained in the late Bishop's leases ; viz. lease of Glanure, & c. 1,416 A. 1 R. 15 P. ; lease of Garrychristian, & c. in the county of Carlow, 497 acres, besides the manor of Woodstock, in the Queen's County, the number of acres not being men- tioned in the lease, and which I estimate at between 40 and 50 acres. As for the lands of Gurteens, which were bequeathed to my brother the late Reverend Richard Vigors, by Thomas Tench, Esquire, of Dublin, and of which I became possessed at his death, jointly with my brother in law Philip Doyne, Esquire, to whom having assigned at the time my right and interest, I refer you for any information on the subject, in case the leases in the possession of the Bishop and his Register are not satisfactory. The mighty number of acres contained in what you call the demesne of Old Leighlin are, as I understand, from four to five acres, for which I pay £. 4. yearly to the Bishop of Leighlin and Ferns, and £. 4. fees to his Agent. ( signed) N. A. Vigors. 2Vr. B.— In the entire of the lands that I hold under the See, there appear to me from forty to fifty untilled; and there are upwards of twelve acres which have been granted by me for a glebe house, & c. & c. at the request of Bishop Jocelyn, for which I should get an allowance in my rent, and they ought to be deducted from the above Return of acres. A true copy, which I attest, P. Preston, Registrar diocese Leighlin, and Agent. I believe this Return is in many respects incorrect; the manor of Woodstock, in the Queen's County, contains 95 A. 1 R. 1 O P. though Mr. Vigors states it from forty to fifty acres; part of the demesne contains ten acres, which he has reduced to four or five. Gurteens, by the lease, con- tains seventy acres; he pays the rent to the Bishop, and is paid by the undertenants, though he asserts he has now nothing to do with it; Mr. Vigors is a magistrate of the county of Carlow. The twelve acres which he says he granted for a glebe house. & c. & c. he sold at three guineas an acre to the Board of First Fruits, which was double the value. P. Preston, Agent to the Bishop. NUMBER OF ACRES UNDER THE BISHOP OF LEIGHLIN. A RETURN of the number of Acres held by Francis Dillon, Esquire, under the See of Leighlin, in the county of Carlow, and parish of Old Leighlin, Garryhill. Denominations. Cultivated.
