306 APPENDIX TO REPORT OF SELECT COMMITTEE, & c. modern mayor of the said city and every succeeding mayor of the said city, and six aldermen of the said city for the time being, and also the recorder of the said city for the time being, for and during the several and respective times they and each of them shall respectively remain or continue in the several places of mayor, aldermen and recorder of the said city, shall be, in fact and name, justices of us, our heirs and successors, to inquire ( as often as to them shall seem fit and necessary) of all and singular felonies, transgres- sions, conspiracies, rebellions, misprisions, contempts, forfeitures, disturbances, conceal- ments, and other crimes and offences whatsoever within our said city and the suburbs and franchises thereof, as well against the peace and common law of our said kingdom of Ireland, as against any statute, acts or ordinances in anywise had, ordained, provided or established, or hereafter to be had, ordained, provided or established, by whomsoever and howsoever done, perpetrated, inferred or attempted, or which hereafter may be done, per- petrated, attempted or inferred, and to hear and determine all and singular the premises and every of them, arising or happening, or to arise or happen within the said city and the suburbs and franchises thereof; and also, that the said mayor, six aldermen and the recorder of the said city for the time being, or any four or more of them ( of whom the said mayor or recorder for the time being We will shall be one) can and may for ever hereafter, hear, determine and execute all and every such things arising and happening to arise or happen within the said city, the suburbs and franchises of the same, which any other justices of the peace of us, our heirs and successors, within our said kingdom of Ireland, in anywise appointed or to be appointed, to hear and determine according to the laws and statutes of our said kingdom, may hear, determine and execute, without any other justice of us, our heirs or successors, in any wise interfering in any of the premises within the said city and the suburbs and franchises thereof, arising or happening, or to arise or happen; We have also granted, and by these presents, for us, our heirs and successors, do grant to the said mayor, sheriffs, commons and citizens of the said city, and their suc- cessors for ever, that the said mayor, six aldermen and recorder of the said city for the time being, or any four or more of them, or whom the said mayor or recorder for the time being We will shall be one, shall from time to time and at all times hereafter, be in fact and name justices of gaol delivery of us, our heirs and successors, within said city, the suburbs and franchises thereof, of all prisoners whomsoever being therein, for all and singular felonies, crimes and other the premises whereupon said prisoners or any of them, may be indicted, corrected, attainted, called or convicted, and of all and singular other prisoners in said gaol for suspicion of felony, or for whatsoever other thing, cause or matter they may be detained or taken, as often and wheresoever as taken in the said mayor, aldermen or recorder, or any four or more of them for the time being, of whom the mayor or recorder aforesaid we will shall be one, shall seem fit or necessary, without any other justice of the peace of us or our heirs, for delivery of such gaol and prisoners here- after by us, our heirs and successors, being appointed, unless by default of the said mayor, aldermen and recorder for the time being, or such four or more of them, according to the true intent of these presents: And moreover, that our royal purpose in the premises may have greater effect, We have nominated, appointed, ordained and constituted, and by these presents, for us, our heirs and successors, do nominate, appoint, ordain and constitute our beloved Thomas Hackett, now mayor of our city, and John Barnwall, esquire, recorder of the same, William Earl of Limerick, Sir Joshua Allen, knight, Sir Michael Creagh, knight, Enoch Reader, merchant, William Gardiner and John Atherington aforesaid, now aldermen of said city, and each of them to be the first and modern justice and justices of us, our heirs and successors, for keeping the peace within said city and the suburbs, franchises and county of the said city, and for the said gaol delivery as aforesaid, according to the true intent of these presents, giving, and by these presents, for us, our heirs and successors, granting to the said Thomas Hackett, now mayor of the said city, John Barnwall, recorder thereof, and the said William Earl of Limerick, Sir Joshua Allen, knight, Sir Michael Creagh, knight, Enoch Reader, William Gardiner and John Atherington, now aldermen of the said city, and also to the mayor, recorder and six aldermen of said city, who shall hereafter be, according to the tenor and intent of these presents, justices of the peace and gaol delivery there, and every four or more of them of whom the said mayor or recorder foi" the time being, We will, shall be one, full power and authority to do and execute all and every thing which to the offices of the justices of the peace and gaol delivery within the said city, suburbs and franchises and county of the said city, do by the laws and statutes of our said kingdom of Ireland belong or appertain: We will, further, and by these presents, for us, our heirs and successors, do grant to the said mayor, sheriffs, commons and citizens of the said city and their successors for ever, that the said justices of the peace of the said city and county of the city of Dublin for the time being, and each of them, from time to time, may do and execute all and every other thing within the said city, the suburbs, franchises and county of the said city of Dublin, and in such the like and as ample manner and form as any other justice or justices of the peace within our said kingdom of Ireland can and may do, execute by the laws and statutes of the said kingdom, all ( except the mayor aforesaid) to continue in their aforesaid offices during their respective natural lives, unless by reason of any provision by these presents, or for misconduct, or any other reason- able cause, they or any of them be removed from their said offices, whom for such cause, We will, shall be amoveable by the mayor and the rest of the common council of said city: We will, also, and by these presents, for us, our heirs and successors, do grant to the said mayor, sheriffs, commons and citizens of the said city and their successors, that if it shall happen that any of the said six aldermen for the time being, constituted and nominated
